Sweet Dreams are made of this
Sweet Dreams are made of this
“Sweet Dreams are made of this”. My interpretation of the Goddess Oshun 💛🐝. This is a collaborative piece infusing the gorgeous bee design by @ravenswillowart . Her design is dripping in every part of this work, and I am honored she shared it with me to create this piece. Me and @ravenswillowart share a fascination and love for goddesses from around the world, so this work felt fitting.
In the Yoruba cosmology of southwestern Nigeria and Benin, Oshun is the goddess, or orisha, of love, sensuality, fertility, and femininity. She is a river goddess, and one of her attributes is to bring forth sweet and fertile waters. Oshun is a mother: Her waters were central to the creation of humanity. She’s also associated with wealth and is said to love shiny things. She’s often represented draped in yellow, adorned in gold, and is said to be as sweet as honey.
Oshun was brought over to the Caribbean with the slave trade, and adopted into Caribbean culture. It’s said she traveled the waters with africans to protect them. May she watch over you and fill your life with love and abundance
